Producing Without Borders — el Cabong Feature (2019)

In 2019, Brazilian music outlet el Cabong published "Música Sem Fronteiras" ("Music Without Borders"), a feature on producers who work past geography using online tools — and Iago was the piece's central example. Journalist Leandro Pessoa detailed how Iago, working from Casinha Lab in Juazeiro, produced English singer Natalie Banna's single "Not a Kid" entirely remotely:

“We did pre-production through Skype conversations, over two weeks. Natalie sent me photos of the studios she had access to in London and we picked one. From here, I coordinated the vocal and guitar recording logistics with the English engineer, then recorded the rest, mixed, and mastered it myself.”

The article also traces Iago's production philosophy to 2011, when he encountered the work of Paul Meany — vocalist of Mutemath — and had what he called a professional turning point: "He's the one who showed me that producing independently, with quality, was accessible — without having to follow a checklist of 'ideal' equipment." By the time of the interview, Iago had roughly 150 albums recorded, with six tracks awaiting mixing on the day the journalist spoke to him.
