Two Wins, Two Genres — Caymmi Award and Edésio Santos

Band Semivelhos

In 2015, Semivelhos — the Juazeiro rock band Iago played in — won Best Music Video at the Prêmio Caymmi, held in Salvador and widely regarded as Bahia's biggest music award, sharing the stage that year with names like Lazzo Matumbi, Gerônimo, and Armandinho. The win was for "Além Mar," directed by Ricardo Spencer. Drummer and band founder Mamede Musser accepted the award on stage, thanking the fans whose votes secured it.

Three years later, in 2018, Iago took 1st place at the Festival Nacional Edésio Santos da Canção with "Não Passarão" (performed by Andrezza Santos) — a competition that also awarded the song Best Song and Best Performer by popular vote, meaning it won across categories, not just one.

Two different genres, two different festivals, three years apart — recognition that followed the work into whatever room it walked into.

“Queremos oferecer esse prêmio a todos os nossos fãs que estão sempre presentes às nossas apresentações, nos prestigiando e apoiando.”
