Necropolis — Award-Winning Horror Short

Necropolis is an independent Brazilian horror short directed by Italo Oliveira, and one of the most decorated projects Iago has worked on. The film became the largest audiovisual production ever made in Juazeiro, Bahia, and went on to represent the state in a festival that selected only one film per state in Brazil.

Iago was responsible for sound design and mix on the project — work that contributed to the film's recognition at multiple festivals:

  • Best Horror Film — Cine Tamoio Festival (São Gonçalo, RJ)

  • Best Director (Italo Oliveira) and Best Cinematography (Flávio Andrade) — Vale do Pindaré Festival (Santa Inês, MA)

  • Best Makeup (Karina Mattos), plus 7 nominations including Best Actress (Ruthe Marciel) — Rima Festival (Rio de Janeiro)

  • Official selection at 20+ festivals across 5 regions of Brazil and in Europe, including Cinefantasy IFFF (Brussels, Belgium)

Director Italo Oliveira described the film as "a collective dream that showed the strength of independent cinema in the Bahian interior," and revealed he's already writing the sequel, Ciano Morto.

Critic Celso Sabadin praised the film's craft directly:

“Beyond an engaging narrative pace, Necropolis has technical and visual polish that’s a feast for the eyes.”
